I think overall I have been adjusting pretty well to the lifestyle of a high school teacher's wife. And to say the least, I am enjoying every minute of it. Except for the one class a month I can't go with JJ to, we have been attending PHS functions weekly, if not daily. One would think I am tired because we have quite the busy schedule, but all in all, I LOVE IT!!! Tonight we have a tailgate party before the big PHS Varsity football game, which the last time we went to was standing room only!!! And the funny part is that JJ has always taught at a PHS school, went to Portage High School, taught there for a semester and then taught a semester at Pardeeville High School. So it seems all of the cheering that is done at the games are so interchangeable. So, it is like I know them already!!! Yah, I am sure you are picturing me cheering right along with them, don't you? Well, I do!!!
JJ seems to amaze me everyday with his teacher/students stories. We are working on him telling me about the good kids first and not always telling me about the bad things that happen in class. Like yesterday when he told me after 10 or 15 minutes of talking about the girl who said to her friend, "See this is why I like him so much." He always tells the bad news first, but that made my day and I know that it made his! We even went to Wal-Mart and one of the students that had gotten taken out of his class because he did not have a job and the class is 3rd hour and then 4th hour you go to work, said "Hi Mr. Heesch." It brings me MUCH joy to hear things like this. Because of course, I knew he was going to be great teacher, but everyday I feel like at least one other person thinks he is great too.
So, to Mr. Heesch, keep up the good work. And a very good school year to come.
Until next time...

View
In case you were wondering what I could stare at all day long, here it is! My back usually faces the view but I constantly find myself turning around to look at it or getting up to walk around and take a look out the window. This is, of course, only one beautiful view we have. :)
Here is to a great weekend. We are going home for the first time in almost 5 weeks. Can you believe it has been that long already? :)

First to Tell You
So, of course I have been going outside everyday at work and there are some benches I sit on and enjoy the view. Today, as I was walking to where I was going a guy next to me said "Excuse me, please let me be the first person to tell you that you are a beautiful woman."
Oh, this is what I go outside for!
I guess that was my warm welcome to Milwaukee.

Big City
JJ and I
have been enjoying our life in the “big” city! We have been continuing to go to
the high school football and soccer games, lately he has been keeping score or
the first down lines and I have been the odd girl that no one knows and for
sure can’t have a kid playing on the team but goes to all the games by herself.
Oh well, I think it is fun. This Friday will be the first home varsity football
game and we are excited! We got all of our Pewaukee Pirates gear ready to wear!
I have
been busy with work and am starting to feel bad because every time I say
something work related it always comes out “ At Mike’s office, Mike this and Mike
that…” I am sure they are thinking, well, you are not at Mike’s office anymore,
so now you are doing it this way! I am sure they don’t actually mind, but I
feel like the kids in the Brady Brunch when it was all about Marsha, Marsha,
Marsha, except that it is Mike, Mike, Mike!!! I don’t mind though, almost all
that I know about this field I have learned from him and Megan, so they will
just have to deal with my Mike comments.
Until next time...

Getting Outside
So, as I have made my big adventure to the big city.... I haven't left the building I worked in for three whole weeks. That was until I got an unexpected surprise from Alison to meet for lunch. YAY! I had an excuse to leave the building and an unexpected visit from a family member, which was exactly what I needed when I needed it. I got to tell her all about life in the big city, and how I never left the building I work in! How are you suppose to "live it up" in the big city, if you never go outside. I don't even have to go outside if I don't want to. We have an attached garage on our apartment so I can walk right to my car from the house and then we park in a covered parking garage that is attached to the building, so I don't even have to go outside, if I don't want to. Well, since the arrival of Alison, I have adventured out TWICE now! Oh yeah, that's right I made it outside twice now! Walking a little farther every day. And as I walk around and take a look at where I am at, I still can't believe this is where we ended up. And much to my surprise, I love it!!!
Until next time...

You know the song...
Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world....
That is me, well, kind of. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. When I was born we lived on a farm in an even smaller town. Not that I remember any of it but I remember stories of cows and my sister climbing silos. I have always been surrounded by animals. We have had cats, dogs, ferrets, guinea pigs, kangaroo rats, bunnies, goats, pigs, snakes, fish and I am sure more.
That is why I am cannot believe I am working downtown Milwaukee. I could not have dreamt this is where we would end up. I was pretty sure we were going to live in Portage forever.
Life has thrown us numerous curve balls, fast balls, and even a few change ups we didn't see coming. That is where our reliance on following God's will has come into play. When JJ and I were first married we believed in God and thought we were doing the right thing. Slowly but surely we pressed on to have a deeper relationship with God. With every passing year, we got closer and closer to knowing God and relying fully upon Him. With this transition to Milwaukee/Pewaukee we have learned our reliance and faith in God is at its most critical stage.
I am going to try to keep the Heesch family blog updated. I can't guarantee anything because this is the 3rd blog I have tried to do and it always sounds like a great idea until life gets in the way and you end up not having enough time to sleep more or less time to update a blog. But, I would like to keep our family updated with what is going on in our lives.
Like, for instance, we went to our first high school soccer game on Tuesday. JJ is going to be keeping the clock and score board at the soccer games and keeping the first down lines at freshman football games. So, I know we will be busy with those and attending varsity football games on Fridays and then trying to catch a swimming meet and a few volleyball games. We are looking forward to the upcoming school year and starting to create friendships down here in Pewaukee.
